Pasadxs por agua (Soaked)

On October 31st, 2014 San Antonio de Areco was flooded. It lasted about a week, according to records there were between 1,000 and 1,200 evacuees. My mother and I had to leave our house on October 31st and only on November 5th we were able to go back inside to start cleaning up and be able to answer the question that I kept asking myself over and over while I was out: How far will the water have come? In 2009 we had already had significant losses, family albums, personal history diluted by water.

Since the flood began and while it lasted, I went out to register my neighborhood, my grandmother's and some streets of the town, it was my way to cope with those days of total uncertainty and concern. I sought to make images that reflected what we were living, the immensity of the situation, but trying to convey visual harmony, which was the only thing I could control at that moment. Taking those photos was an anchor so as not to lose myself in the helplessness of not being able to do anything to stop what was happening.
