Carbón (Charcoal)

Project on how charcoal is produced; since it is wood in the hot land of Monte Quemado, Santiago del Estero, until it becomes the bag we buy in supermarkets. Through this photographic essay I seek to make visible what and who is behind such an everyday product in Argentina, a product that is part of the heart of the folklore of our country, of a ritual for which we are known throughout the world: the roast.

The production of charcoal seriously damages the health and life quality of the people who carry it out. Workers do not have any kind of protection or equipment suitable for the tasks they perform.
